Many of the older buildings in the Village have been built using local cobbles. This picture shows part of the Church and a strange dragon carving, which is probably Saxon and salvaged from the original church which fell into the sea many centuries ago. The Clock and bells were repaired in 2004 and now chime on the hour day & night, so no-one has an excuse for missing appointments!

Within the church you can find the helmet of the Giant of Bewick, Sir John Meaux of Bewick, sometimes called Giant Morrell's  His and his wife's effigy, may be found in Morrel's Aisle within the Church

27 Church Street is a good example of a farm house in the middle of the village. Behind are the barns and so forth.

Carrying on along Church Street another example of the cottages number 36 is dated 1789. It is one of the 5 listed buildings in the village.

Moore's the ironmonger / plumbers /electrician & builders have contributed to many of the developments in the village. At present it is for sale.

The bottom end of Church street is the village green. Although small does provide a central focus point for the village. Around the green are a number of interesting buildings.
